Analysis of the advantages and application prospects of semi-solid state batteries

A semi-solid state battery refers to a battery in which one electrode does not contain liquid electrolyte and the other electrode contains liquid electrolyte. Or the ratio of the mass or volume of solid electrolyte in the monomer to the total mass or volume of electrolyte in the monomer is half. Among them, solid electrolytes have excellent conductivity and can effectively improve the safety and stability of batteries.

Compared with lithium-ion batteries, semi-solid state batteries have a smaller volume, are more stable and safe, can achieve higher energy density, and are much cheaper in cost. The main advantages of semi-solid state batteries are as follows:

1. High energy density

The upper limit of energy density for liquid lithium-ion batteries is recognized to be around 300Wh/kg-400Wh/kg. The theoretical energy density of solid-state batteries is as high as 700Wh/kg;

2. Good stability

Solid electrolytes are used in semi-solid state batteries, which have high stability properties such as oxidation resistance and hydrolysis resistance, effectively improving the service life and stability of the battery;

3. Higher security

Semi solid state batteries or solid-state batteries have no liquid substance, or the liquid substance is significantly reduced. Therefore, when damage or puncture occurs, it will effectively avoid situations such as spontaneous combustion or explosion, and has high safety;

4. Longer service life

A semi-solid battery can be cycled 2000 times at room temperature with a capacity retention rate of over 85%. Under the same conditions, a regular liquid battery can be cycled 1200 times with a capacity retention rate of only about 80%.

Semisolid state batteries are one of the emerging battery technologies, which have advantages such as safety and stability compared to traditional batteries. They have been widely used in fields such as automobiles and smart wearables. In the future, with the continuous improvement and development of battery technology, semi-solid state batteries are expected to become one of the important new energy battery technologies to replace traditional battery technology, promoting the development of fields such as electric vehicles and wireless electronic devices.
