1. to maintain a suitable ambient temperature
Generally speaking, the biggest factor affecting UPS battery life is ambient temperature. Generally, the preferred ambient temperature required by the battery manufacturer is between 20-25°C. Although the batteries used in UPS power supply are generally maintenance-free sealed lead-acid batteries, the design life is generally 5 years, which can only be achieved under the environment required by battery manufacturers. If the environmental requirements are not met, the length of its life will vary greatly. In addition, the increase in ambient temperature will accelerate the shortening of the life of the UPS battery.
2. periodic charging and discharging
The floating voltage and discharge voltage in the UPS power supply have been debugged to the rated value at the factory, and the discharge current is increased with the increase of the load. The load should be reasonably adjusted in use, such as controlling the number of electronic devices such as microcomputers. In general, the load should not exceed 60% of the rated load of the UPS. In this range, the discharge current of the UPS battery will not be over-discharged.
Because the UPS is connected to the mains for a long time, in the use environment with high power supply quality and few mains power outages, the battery will be in a floating state for a long time, which will reduce the activity of the battery's chemical energy and electrical energy conversion and accelerate aging And shorten the service life. Therefore, it should be completely discharged every 2-3 months, and the discharge time can be determined according to the capacity and load of the battery. After a full load discharge is completed, charge for more than 8 hours as required.
3. timely replacement of waste/bad batteries
At present, the number of batteries equipped with large and medium-sized UPS power supplies ranges from 3 to 96, or even more. These individual batteries constitute a battery pack through circuit connection to meet the requirements of UPS DC power supply. In the continuous operation and use of UPS, it is inevitable that the performance of individual batteries will decrease and the storage capacity will not meet the requirements due to the difference in performance and quality. When one or some batteries in the battery pack are damaged, the maintenance personnel should check and test each battery to eliminate the damaged battery. When replacing a new battery, you should strive to purchase the same type of battery from the same manufacturer, and prohibit the mixed use of acid-proof batteries, sealed batteries, and UPS batteries of different specifications.
4. uses the power supply peak to charge the battery
Charging at peak power supply For users whose UPS battery has been under low-voltage power supply from mains supply for a long time or frequent power outages, in order to prevent premature damage of UPS battery due to long-term undercharging, sufficient charging time should be ensured after each discharge. Generally, after the battery is deeply discharged, it takes at least 10~12h to recharge to 90% of the rated capacity.
5. UPS power supply should not work with full load
When using UPS storage batteries, attention should be paid to various parameters of UPS. All kinds of UPS power supplies should not work at full load. A power margin of more than 20% should be reserved, and a good load should be controlled between 40% and 60% of the rated output power of UPS.
